Improve your sleep: A common dream...

Dreaming "while" sleeping, or Dreaming "of" sleeping?

Is it bedtime?  Remember that question as a child? Mom or dad asking you, is it bedtime yet? And the universal answer from every child no matter what time of night it is of course… a resounding NO.

Thankfully our parents had the last word and we did in fact have to go to bed and get our sleep. But then we grew up and without the constant prodding of our parents most of us have forgotten what a good idea it is to have a bedtime.

I used to think that sleeping was a necessary evil. There was...

Feeling Good: It's all Attitude

Thankfully you can always start feeling better... right NOW

Do you remember being a kid? Here’s the scenario…

Crazy Uncle Marty comes to the house, we all have a crazy uncle Marty… and he goes to give you a hug and he always brings you a little something. However, it’s always something a little, “unique” is that the word? One time it was an empty can of spagettios, a personalized license plate key chain, with the wrong name on it, and then of course there was that one time when he brought you a cup, no check that, a plastic bag of Orchata, which is a Mexican milk like drink that comes from… well nobody really knows but certainly doesn’t taste like anything that you should be drinking. However no matter what he brings… you have been well trained… and what do we say?

Eating Right: Breaking the Fast

Believe it or not breakfast is about more than the prize in the box

I have always been a huge fan of breakfast and I’m a serious champion that it is the most important meal of the day, at least in the top 3 anyway. And for most of my life (until I was almost 30) I was sure that the word breakfast was actually a synonym for sugar…
I actually grew up believing in a creed that went something like this…
“In the beginning… and on one of the days…God created cereal…and it was good.”

And I simply couldn’t get enough. A typical morning included a giant bowl of one of the coveted monster cereals: you know Franenberry, Count Chocula, or if I was feeling especially randy…

Eating Right: When to say when...

Eating is one of the only places in life where you can win by NOT finishing...

Do you know who Roger Bannister was? He was the first person to break the four-minute mile. Before him, no one thought it was possible, scientists claimed that the heart would literally explode at that pace and therefore was an infallible impossibility.

But Roger didn’t buy into that and ran the first sub-four minute mile ever recorded. And as if an impenetrable barrier had been broken, 9 other runners also ran sub-four minute miles that same year.

My youngest brother Jon was the Roger Banister of our family, but not for his running ability...
